Painful Truth: What students need to know about the opioid crisis

September 10 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm EDT

Join the conversation:

Join OrthoCarolina Research Institute for an honest conversation about the opioid epidemic and how it’s impacting today’s high school and college students. We hope you will join us for this FREE event at the Knight Theater. We encourage parents to accompany high school students and continue the conversation at home.

Getting to the CORE of the opioid crisis:

Everyday, an estimated 130+ Americans die from an opioid-related drug overdose and nearly 80% of heroin users reported misusing prescription opioids prior to heroin. Here at OrthoCarolina, we believe it’s our responsibility to do our part in finding alternatives to opioids for our patients and to educate the public of the dangers related to opioid use and abuse. That’s why we started the Carolinas Opioid Reducation Effort (CORE Project) and why we are hosting this free community event.

Meet our Speakers:

  • Debbie Dalton, Speaker, Advocate, Founder of Hunter Dalton HDLife Foundation
  • Dr. Pat Connor, OrthoCarolina Sports Medicine Surgeon, Panthers Team Physician
  • Dr. Nady Hamid, OrthoCarolina Elbow and Shoulder Surgeon, CORE Project Principal Investigator
