Today, May 20, we join the research community in recognizing the people who conduct clinical trials. We are grateful to be part of a global effort to improve public health.

As you may, or may not, know OrthoCarolina Research Institute (OCRI) is both an academic research center and clinical research site servicing orthopedic industry research. This model gives Physician Researchers the opportunity to answer clinical questions and concerns through a fast, innovative research approach. Ultimately, that serves patients by offering the most cutting edge technology in the industry pipeline.

OCRI’s work allows our research team to conduct a variety of studies, including pre-market drug, device, and biologics trials, as well as basic science, translational, and outcomes-research. OCRI has the ability to take an idea from conception to publication. We collaborate with local scientists to conduct basic science research and have access to a wide array of scientific labs including bioengineering, biomechanical, histology, and orthopedic biology.

Our job doesn’t end when the research is completed. We feel it is our responsibility to share our findings with the medical community and the public at large. We educate the medical community predominantly through two avenues, adding publications in medical journals and making presentations at medical conferences. With over 200 active studies at OCRI, we have a lot to share!

In 2020, OrthoCarolina physicians added a record breaking 96 publications to orthopedic literature. That means, research done within clinic walls is shared to a global medical audience and making patient care better for as many people as possible.

With all that said, we tip our hats to the physicians, clinic staff, and research staff at OrthoCarolina and beyond who dedicate countless hours making lives better for orthopedic patients through research. Happy Clinical Trials Day… Today is your day!
