A recent publication by Dr. Thomas Fehring and Dr. Susan Odum has been featured in the most recent edition of Orthopedics This Week. The study leading to the publication “Cost Analysis of Ceramic Heads in Primary Total Hip Arthroplasty” was undertaken to determine if ceramic heads were the best option both clinically and financially for patients undergoing a total hip replacement.
In the article, Dr. Fehring speaks on the thought process of today’s orthpedic surgeons: “As surgeons we must be mindful of not only clinical issues, but also economic ramifications of implant selection decisions.
