OrthoCarolina Hip & Knee Center is comprised of a team of top providers who have dedicated countless hours to both industry sponsored clinical trials and to internal investigator initiated research studies. The Hip & Knee surgeons at OrthoCarolina participate in dozens of research initiatives that seek to further the medical community and advance the literature for other orthopedic surgeons around the country. The topics of recent research projects have surrounded, but are not limited to, partial and total joint surgical procedures, implant adequacy & survivorship, overall patient outcomes and Periprosthetic Joint Infections (PJI).
With rising rates of PJI in hospitals around the country, the OrthoCarolina Hip & Knee surgeons have placed a particular focus on infection. The Hip & Knee surgeons are dedicated to becoming experts on the intricacies of PJI so much so that it led to the awarding of the Orthopedic Research and Education Foundation (OREF) Grant for the One-Stage versus Two-Stage PJI research study. This research project is being conducted on a national level by OCRI at over 14 sites with OrthoCarolina being the leading site.
