Three cheers for OrthoCarolina’s (OC) Hip and Knee Center! Earlier this month, Dr. Bryan Springer accepted the George Cierney III Award on behalf of the practice.
The prestigious George Cierny III Award is given annually by the Musculoskeletal Infection Society for “career long excellence that exemplifies collaboration in patient care and research for musculoskeletal infection.”
“It was a tremendous honor for the OC Hip and Knee Center to receive the George Cierny award,” Dr. Bryan Springer said. “Dr. Cierny was a pioneer in the treatrment of musculoskeletal infections.”

With previous winners like Mayo Clinic, Rothman Orthopaedic Institute, and University of Southern California, it was an honor for Dr. Bryan Springer to bring the award to Charlotte.
But the innovation doesn’t stop after winning an award, Springer says there is still work to do.
“Periprosthetic joint infection remains a major challenge for both patients, families and surgeons. At the OC Hip and Knee Center, we have dedicated significant time and resources to ensure the best possible outcomes for these patients,” Springer said.
OrthoCarolina Research Institute is proud to partner with a dedicated team of Hip and Knee Center surgeons as they continue to improve the results in treatment of periprosthetic infection through cutting edge technology, surgical procedures, and research.
Congratulations to the Hip and Knee Center! For your tireless dedication to making lives better, this award is well-deserved.
